Rathlin Run 2010 -
10 members braved the high seas to compete in the Rathlin Run on 28th August. A total of 186 people ran with the rough crossings somewhat
overshadowed the run, although everyone put in good times.
Gerard continued his record of running in every Rathlin Run since it started in 2002 and was the first member home in a time of 1:13:19 in 15th place.
Mary was the first lady home in a time of 1:38:48 to finish in 135th place.

Interclub Run 2010 -
13 members made the trip down the coast for the annual Inter-Club race involving Glens Runners, Larne AC, East Antrim Harriers and Ballymena Runners,
which was held on the Ballycoose Road above Cairncastle on 24th August.
Some good times were posted on the hilly course and many thanks to those who represented the club. Over £500 was raised for the Neo Natal unit at Antrim hospital.
Thanks to Larne AC for a well organised race and for the refreshments and prizes
in Mattie Moores afterwards.
Lurig Run 2010 -

A record 225 runners competed in this year's Lurig Run, which took place on Saturday 14th August, as part of the
Heart of the Glens Festival 2010.
Joe McAlister won in a very impressive time of 28:50, while Emmet McAlister was the first local home for the third year in a row,
finishing in 8th place in a time of 33:10 and collecting the prestigious Larry McAfee Memorial Shield.
The first female home was Shileen O'Kane in 35:21, who finished 20th overall.
Congratulations to our very own Richard McNeilly who won the male Vet over 60 category in a great time of 40:45.
Ballymena Runners won the very competitive team race, as 4 of their runners made it home first.
Many thanks go to the runners, spectators, volunteers and organisers who made the event such a success and who year on year
make the Lurig Run such an important part of the Festival week.
Ballymoney 5 2010 -
8 Glens Runners took part in the Ballymoney 5 on Friday 30th July. A good turnout of 176 runners completed the course
on a perfect night for running. John Woodhouse was the first member home with an impressive PB of 33:45, Eddie was next with
Dominic and then Patrick Duffin not far behind. Mary Duffin was the first lady in a time of 40:15, closely followed by Michael McCurry with
Ciara Lynn and Andrea McAlister next.

New Club Vests -
The second batch of newly designed running vests have arrived.
There are some extra ordered of all sizes for those who missed the original order.
Please contact Andrea or Rosemary if you are interested.
Could all members who have new vests please ensure that the money is given to Andrea as soon as possible.
Lisburn Half Marathon 2010 -
John Woodhouse, Mary Duffin and Sinead McCrudden journeyed down to Lisburn on Wed 16th June. On a very hot and humid evening
conditions were tough for the 13.1 miles. The course was tough with hills at regular intervals but everyone completed the course
in good times.
Congratulations again to Liam McDonagh who finished 16th in the 10k race with another PB of 35:30.
ECOS 5 2010 -
5 club members braved the heat of the midday sun to compete in the Ballymena ECOS 5 on Sat 22nd May.
223 runners completed the 2 lap course around the Ballymena Showgrounds.
Liam McDonagh finished 14th with an impressive time of 29:04. John Woodhouse finished in 35:45, followed by Dominic Douthart in 40:23,
Michael McCurry in 43:44 and Mary Duffin in 44:02. Well done to everyone.

Breaking News -
Some breaking news from the Belfast based Glens Runners.
Sean Hughes with a time of 2:58:16 was placed 1st in the Male 45 Vet category and 39th overall at the Belfast City Marathon on Monday 3rd May.
He will attend the official presentation evening this week to collect his prize. Well done Sean from everyone at Glens Runners.
Congratulations also to Liam McDonagh who was 1st Male 35 Vet at the Les Jones Memorial 10k held at the Mary Peters track on Friday 14th May with an excellent time of 36:50.
Belfast Marathon Relay Teams 2010 -
Well done to all club members who ran the Belfast marathon and relay. A special mention must go to Sean and Henry who both
ran PB's for the full marathon with times of 02:58:16 and 03:42:28 respectively.
A mention must also go to Gerard Carey, who posted a great time of 3:52:10 just 3 weeks after completing the Connemara marathon.
The results for the relay teams were team 2 (5788) finished in 315th place with a time of 3.48.36.
Team 3 (7156) finished in 316th place with a time of 3.48.36 and team 1 finished in 339th place with a time of 3.50.01 out
of a total of 1,969 relay teams that completed all of the full marathon legs.
Another outstanding job well done by the Glens Runners.

London Marathon 2010 -
Well done to John, Dominic and Eddie who all completed the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April, with times of
4:04:10, 4:12:06 & 4:17:58 respectively and also for collecting over £1400 for Northern Ireland Leukemia Research.
Dominic and Eddie had survived an arduous 14 hour bus journey from Larne to London on the Friday, while John and the support crew,
Henry, braved the ash ridden skies by flying on the Saturday. A great weekend was had by all, especially Henry, and I know the lads
want to thank everyone for the messages, texts and calls of support.

Club Meeting Times -
Club nights are held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings throughout the year at 7pm.
On Monday's and Wednesday's we meet at the Cushendall Boat Club carpark.
From Thursday 15th April we will meet at the entrance of Glenariff Forest Park.
Race Over The Glens 2010 -
Following the disappointment of having to cancel this event for the second time, Ballymena Runners AC has decided
to reschedule the event for Saturday 17th April 2010 with a 12 noon start.

Larne Half Marathon 2010 -
A great turnout of 14 members competed in the Larne Half Marathon, on Sat 20th March.
In windy but sunny conditions everyone posted good respectable times.
Liam McDonagh was the first Glens Runner home in a great time of 1:20:31, followed by Sean, Gerard and Ruairi Hunter. John Woodhouse
continued his impressive preparation for London by finishing next, ahead of Eddie (who did finish after all!), Dominic and Aidan.
Mary was the first lady home in a time of 1:57:48, followed by Michael, Patrick, Brenda, Clare and Ciara.
A special mention must go to the Brenda, Clare and Ciara, who completed their first half marathons. I know the girls can't wait to do another one!

Club Membership 2010 -
Club membership is now due for 2010 and was agreed at £20 for the year.
We need to have all members paid up as soon as possible to allow for runner registration with Athletics Northern Ireland.
Glenariffe Mountain Race 2010 -
The annual Glenariffe Mountain Race took place on Saturday 13th March.
Aidan McAlister and John McAllister finished the race together in a time of 1:01:10.
The 6 mile race started and finished at St Patrick's PS in Waterfoot with the route going along the river path,
and involved around 1100 feet of climbing to the top of Greenaghan and back.

Charity Run 2010 -
There was an excellent turn out of around 50 runners for the annual charity run on Sunday 7th March.
15 people ran the full 16 mile distance from Ballycastle to Cushendall with everyone else starting at various points along the road with the finish at the boat club.
Over £700 was raised and all donations went to this years charity - Ruairķ Hunter's Leukemia Charity.
Thanks go to Cushendall Boat Club for the use of their facilities, Ballycastle Runners AC for again supporting the event in large numbers
and to everyone who helped out with lifts, catering and support.

New Club Vests -
The new redesigned club vests are now available. Anyone who preordered a vest can collect them from Andrea or Rosemary.
Christmas Dinner 2009 -
This year's Christmas dinner took place on the 12th December in the Glens Hotel. Many thanks to the Glens for a lovely meal and
many thanks also to Alec for organising such a good night.
Congratulations to Michael who won the Most Committed Runner award, to Dominic for the Most Improved Runner and to Mary for the Runner Of The Year.
Seeley Cup 10k 2009 -
Five club members attended the Seeley Cup 10k road race on Saturday 5th December.
Conditions were perfect on a calm, dry but cool Belfast afternoon for the 800 competitors on a route which involved three laps of a fast course around the Ormeau Park and Ormeau Embankment.
Liam McDonagh was first home for the Glens Runners in a time of 35:58 followed by Sean Hughes (36:55), Gerard McAlister (40:50), Henry McAlister (44:38) and Patrick McCann (47:01).
The race was won by Lurig Run winner Joe McAlister in 30:18.

AGM 2009 -
The club AGM took place on Tuesday 10th November at 7:00pm in the Old School House in Cushendall.
Thanks to everyone who attended to discuss some important issues concerning the club.
The previous committee agreed to stay on for another year, so many thanks to them.
Club membership is now due and it was agreed at £20 for the year. If membership is paid by the Christmas dinner (12th December) the club will pay for half of the new club running vest.
It was also agreed that the club would contribute to the cost of travel to races/events that groups of members participate in.
Dominic and Eddie were allocated the club places for the London Marathon.
Money is now due to anyone wishing to go to the Christmas do - the cost is £20 and should be paid to Alec.
The annual charity run was confirmed for Sunday 7th March 2010 and this years charity will be Leukaemia Research.
